    Wollongong NAATI Translation Services

Wollongong is a coastal city in Australia, south of Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive. Surfing beaches and rock pools line the coastline. Trails encircle the forests and rocky cliffs of Mt. Keira in the Illawarra mountain range, which frames the city. To the north, hang gliders launch from Bald Hill. South lie the Buddhist temple of Nan Tien and Lake Illawarra, a large lagoon with boating and fishing facilities.

    About the Farsi Language

    Farsi Community in Australia

Australia's Persian-speaking community is shaped by Iran's turbulent modern history. Some arrived as students in the 1970s, before the 1979 revolution that transformed Iran's political landscape; others came as refugees and asylum seekers in the years that followed; subsequent waves arrived through skilled migration and family pathways. The result is a community with significant depth of establishment and a wide range of translation needs — from immigration and family reunion documents to business contracts and commercial agreements with Iranian counterparts. Persian (Farsi) is written in Perso-Arabic script — the same script used for Arabic, but the languages are entirely unrelated. Persian is an Indo-European language (related, distantly, to English and most European languages), while Arabic is Semitic. A Farsi NAATI translator holds specific accreditation for Persian; an Arabic translator cannot translate a Persian document and vice versa, despite sharing the same script. Iran is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, meaning Iranian civil documents require Iranian consular or embassy authentication before being submitted to Australian authorities. Iranian civil records were issued under different authorities across different historical periods — pre-revolutionary documents (before 1979) and post-revolutionary documents may look quite different in format and issuing authority. Translators familiar with both document eras are preferable for older records.
